Yes, YOU can be a 2012 Campus Brand Ambassador!
SAWomEng Conference seeks passionate enthusiastic students who long to spread the word about the annual conference and the organisation across the respective campuses. If you consider yourself ... more
The conference was great and will be again this year - don't forget your business cards! I attended as a 3rd year student, but you must apply even though you are only in 2nd year - you never know, always apply!
(sorry for the blanks) Oh well, I should post my application by tomorrow, lets hope for the best.Would be nice to see you guys.Anything to say regading past conferences? And Emily, did you attend as a second year student?
Im also not really sure, trying to figure out whats available and if it interests me. I also had a vague idea of what engineering was before i began. It wasn't my first choice but haven't regretted it since i began. maybe doubted myself a few times but never regretted my decision.
I was a delegate in 2008 - I am runnning SAWomEng@network now. I actually found Chem Eng by a stroke of luck - a documentary on the Discovery channel - I unfortunately didn't know alot about engineering before that - that's why I love what GirlEng is doing in SA.
Wow, my comp is proving to be very moody, sorry, will upload pic soon.I am new to sawomeng entirely.Heard about it this year only! And yourself?Medicine and engineering does have future prospects.I'm keeping my options open.I'm just building a career from a passion for robots. What made you choose Chem Eng?I am hoping to apply-as a 2nd year student...
Bhavani, have you applied for the conference this year, or are you a past delegate? Thats sounds very interesting - I have always been interested in how engineering ties in with medicine - fascinating field - sure you'll enjoy it!
@ Emily : Apologies. was supposed to do that by now >.<. Well I hope you do gain something from the conference. You most likely would. The conference sounds really interesting. As for myself-finish off undergrad here at UCT, then hopfeully Masters.I'm seriously considering robotics that can aid disabled and/or old people, much like Japanese companies (Honda's ASIMO?).
Undecided unfortunately, going to be exploring what is available to do out there before the end of this year - hopefully the cocktail function exhibition and chatting to the sponsors will steer me in the right direction!
Bhavani - please post a picture of yourself so I can keep an eye out for you at our events and at UCT. What are your plans for the future?
I will most definitely try thanks, and in addition, its good to hear that even Mechatronics is considered. As a discipline it is still new, intense but I find it fun.One word : robots..
Hi Bovani, all fields in the engineering and built environment faculty are considered for the conference. Preference is given to later years but this shouldn't stop anyone from applying! Best of luck with your application!
Hey guys :) wow, I feel small here.Doing Mechatronics Engineeringin UCT 2nd year.Im really keen about this Conference ^^ hopefully I can get through and meet you all.All the best with work girls!
Studying engineering is not easy but very rewarding after achieving a particular goal. I'm in my final year of Electronic engineering, it has not been an easy journey for me but I've finally made to my final year and hopefully will have my degree by the end of 2010!
Yes... it is very stressful! I am currently in my 4th year of Chem Eng and there are constantly projects due but it is also very rewarding. The constant pressure to know more and constantly facing new challenges may not be desirable by everyone, but if you are an engineer at heart - this is what you love. I just read a line about someone describing what an engineer is, they said: "You know you are an engineer if you can prove it mathematically"... =) how funny!
