Denel Dynamics has been developing and improving several products in order to remain at the forefront of its respective markets for anti-tank missiles, surface-to-air missiles, stand-off weapons and UAV systems (target drones and surveillance systems). These include the new Armed Longrange Reconnaissance Turret (ALLRT) system for launching the Ingwe anti-tank missiles from light vehicles and the Makopa precision – guided missile developed for Rooivlak and other combat helicopter applications.

One of the more important achievements this year was the commissioning of the Umkhonto – IR surface-to-air missile system with the Finnish Navy, including a very successful flight test from one of their vessels in the Baltic Sea. On the back of that success, Dynamics also embarked on extended range and radar versions of the Umkhonto. An important milestone keeping South Africa at the forefront of modern missile development, was the conclusion of contracts with the South African DoD, Armscor, Denel and Brazil on the binational A-Darter air-to-air missile programme. Dynamics also concluded the First UAV contracts with the Brazilian armed forces, paving the way for more long term relationships between the countries in this area. There is also interest in the Bataleur medium attitude, long endurance (MALE) UAV currently under development to complement the shorter range Seeker II UAV.
