Building sustainable communities through green buildings
Francois holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. He currently works as the Technical Coordinator for the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA). The GBCSA is an independent, non-profit organisation spearheaded by leaders from all sectors of the commercial property industry. The green building council aims to lead the transformation of the South African property industry to ensure that all buildings are designed, built and operated in an environmentally sustainable way that will allow South Africans to work and live in healthy, efficient and productive environments. As the technical coordinator, his duties involve the development, implementation and ongoing operation of the Green Star SA green building rating tools. Francois manages technical queries and stakeholder feedback related to the rating tools as well as coordinating meetings, trainings, assessments and appeals relating to the rating process. In his free time, Francois enjoys surfing and scuba diving and has an appreciation of nature.
